5 reasons why you should host a Cupcake Day in your Office

Don’t worry if you haven’t whipped up some sweet treats for World Baking Day, instead have a think about how your baking can make a real difference to people in June. Alzheimer’s Society is calling on offices to bake a difference for people with dementia, by taking part on Cupcake Day, which is happening on June 13 this year.

Now in its fourth year, Cupcake Day has raised £2.7 million since 2016 and this year is aiming to raise £1.8 million.

Whether you’re a baking novice or a seasoned pro, unite against dementia with your clients and colleagues by baking, bringing or buying cupcakes to raise vital funds. Still not convinced? Here are five reasons why you should take part on June 13:

1 You don’t have to be a baker

Whether you’re a baking pro, impatient icer, first-timer or late night whisker, Cupcake Day is about getting everyone involved. You can buy or bake your cakes – it doesn’t matter how you choose to do it as long as you take part!

2 Make an impact

Dementia is set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer and affect 1 million people by 2021. In the average time it takes to bake a batch of cakes, six people will develop dementia in the UK. It’s crunch time!

Getting involved in Cupcake Day is easy and the money you raise will make a vital difference for the 850,000 people in the UK with dementia.

3 You can do it at any time

Can’t do June 13 because you have a big meeting? No problem.  You can mark the occasion at another time of the month, there are no excuses not to get involved.

4 It’s really easy to get involved

Get your fundraising pack free of charge online and you’ll get posters to help spread the word, a gift aid box for the ‘dough’ and even a cupcake selfie frame so your colleagues can share pictures of their sweet treats on social media. Easy peasy!

5 It’s fun!

Working in the office in the summer can feel a little stifling at times, and everyone loves a little bit of cake and a good cause to boot. Cupcake Day is a great way to take a moment out, chat to your colleagues and really get behind a campaign to bake a difference.
