Rough Justice For Eastbourne

There seems to be a demarcation line in Eastbourne that divides the town in two.  Langney Road area up to the Seafront tends to be out of favour with Eastbourne Borough Council – whether it’s because the Curzon Cinema, Debenhams Store and KFC have closed down the attitude of the people who govern Eastbourne are looking with tunnel vision not realising the whole of Eastbourne is their responsibility.  Just because they have rebuilt the West side of the town doesn’t mean they have to neglect the East side which is just as important.  Everybody pays their business and Council taxes – so why during the Christmas period did the Council neglect their responsibility to dress up that side of town with festive lights?  I understand it was in total darkness as far decorations were concerned yet last year this part of Eastbourne had festive decorations and they were put in a store!  Has someone lost the key?  How convenient and only one key – since when!  A relative of Scrooge must be at work in Eastbourne Borough Council.

I always wonder how the Councillors get on with parking in Eastbourne – Oh I keep forgetting – if you are Councillor you get special privileges! They don’t pay.  Only you and I pay, we are only counted as third rate citizens.

Talking of which, now that East Sussex County Council will be putting up parking charges by another two thirds, obviously they don’t wish anybody to come to Eastbourne on holiday and they don’t wish the shops to do business and when people realise this fully they will probably get their provisions somewhere else where parking is not an issue.  More shops and stores will eventually close down and Eastbourne could possibly become a ghost town and the only people in town will be the Councillors running around and scratching their wooden heads and blaming each other for their bad management.

I sincerely hope that sort of scenario doesn’t come to fruition – someone must come up with a easier solution than putting up costs beyond most people’s budgets.  The answer cannot continue in the same vein as suspicion of where all this extra money is going towards is not easily recognised and someone should be more audacious and bold and ask searching questions – although Councillors are known to bend the truth it has been alleged!

The above is just my opinion and anyone who wants to write to me care of the newspaper regarding this content – please do so!  Swear words are not accepted.
